Welcome to the July 2012 edition of the One Little Word Blog Hop. If you’re new to the hop, please scroll to the bottom of this post for more info and a complete list of participants. If you’re going in order, you’ve clicked through from Monica’s blog, and your next stop is Donna. The entire list in order is at the bottom of this post, and if you get lost you can always start with Margie, who organizes this monthly event and is therefore number one on the list.
I loved July’s prompt last year. Anything that has to do with music makes me happy, and usually the toughest part is narrowing down a list compact enough to ‘fit’ the prompt. While I listen to music all day while I work, typically through Pandora, what I realized as I thought about this prompt is that I don’t really listen to the lyrics as much anymore. It’s background noise, it keeps me company and it keeps me moving. But I’m not really paying much attention.
Except for a few songs, and those are the ones that made this list. One in particular, by the Fray, I heard on an episode of Criminal Minds and found myself googling before the episode was even over. It’s the song that I sometimes hear when I wake up after a less than restful night, and the one that creeps into my thoughts as I try to breathe through stressful moments.
Another made the list last year, though I didn’t realize it until I went back to link up the post. I could probably put any song by Sara Bareilles on every list I ever do. I *heart* her.
And, since the words and sounds in these songs speak so much more eloquently than I do, I’ll leave you with a YouTube playlist. Thanks for stopping by. See you next month.

Background music that keeps me moving is often what I use my playlists for too. Thanks for the song.
By the way – this post isn’t linked to the OLW tag I had to search for it.

Thanks so much Kelly!
Thanks Monica! I need to hop through everyone’s posts again and make a list of which songs I’ll add to my permanent playlist.
