It’s been just about six months since I walked up to a podium at Unity Temple on the Plaza and read a deeply personal piece about being my mother’s daughter.

Six months can be gone in the blink of an eye or it can drag on like a stifling summer without air conditioning. It’s been a bit of both in my world; I’m in denial that it’s already November and pretend to not see the Christmas decorations in every flipping store I walk in to but, at the same time, the time I’ve known that I’d be lucky enough to help bring Listen to Your Mother back to Kansas City for a second year has moved slower than my kids when I ask them to clean their rooms.

Finally, today, the proverbial cat is out of the bag. The inimitable Ann Imig, founder of the Listen to Your Mother Show phenomenon, posted this announcement at the official Listen to Your Mother Show site:

To say that I’m a great big bundle of nerves today is an understatement. I’m deeply reverent of the women with whom I shared the stage ┬álast year, and giddy with anticipation about reading the pieces that will (hopefully) flood in once we’ve put out a call for submissions. I’m in awe of the three women that I’m sharing this “job” with: Erin Margolin, Sarah Guthrie and Leslie Kohlmeyer. They are fierce, compassionate, genuinely lovely women who see Listen to Your Mother the same way I do; as a labor of love, an honor and a chance to help change someone’s life by holding their story with the love and respect it deserves.

So save the date, please, and pass along our info to businesses who would like to get in front of women, mothers, daughters and the men who love them. We have sponsorship opportunities that will help us produce a show that will knock your socks off, and a portion of every ticket sale will go to our chosen charity. That announcement–and so many more–are coming soon!
